A 5m refurbishment at the home of the British Motorcycle Grand Prix is being opened by model Jodie Marsh on Friday.

The improvements to Donington Park in Leicestershire include 38 new pit garages, paddock buildings and a resurfaced circuit.

Managing director Brian Pallett said the project was an exciting development for the East Midlands circuit.

The first vehicles to use the circuit will be historic sports cars on 2 April followed by superbikes on 7 April.

"We are extremely pleased with the facility - we desperately needed this as it has been 30 years since the last pit facility was built so it was getting a little long in the tooth," Mr Pallett said.

"It is 400% better than before."

A new office suite will provide facilities for race control, time-keeping, administrative personnel and the media.

Circuit commentators will be housed on the second storey.
