The British motor-cycle grand prix caused traffic chaos on nearby roads |
Donington Park will work with local authorities to prevent a repeat of the chaos on nearby roads after Sunday's British Motorcycle Grand Prix. Some people took over five hours to get away from the area after the meeting and 60 people missed their flights at Nottingham East Midlands Airport.
Dave Fern, projects manager at Donington, admits it is not an easy problem to address.
"We have a debriefing meeting next week when the situation will be discussed."
Mr Fern told BBC News Online: "The problem arose because 80,000 - 90,000 people all wanted to get home at the same time at the end of the Grand Prix.
"The roads round Donington are largely single carriageway, and you're trying to push an enormous volume of traffic on to roads which are already busy.
"Clearly we're not happy that people have had a great sporting day marred by sitting in their cars and not moving for hours.
"This year we brought in 40 additional acres for parking and a temporary footbridge over a main road.
"We'll be looking at the problem very closely."
