Bus warnings to combat violence
Supt Les Milner and Councillor Sandra Forrest
The initiative is part of a campaign to tackle alcohol-related crime
A message to combat violence and anti-social behaviour is being transported through Loughborough.

Five Arriva buses travelling on the route from Leicester, along the A6 to Loughborough, will be displaying the message, "Behave or Be Banned".

The initiative has been launched to warn people that a dispersal zone is operating in Loughborough town centre.

Police can ban groups of people who do not live in the area where they are found, from returning for 24 hours.

The bus scheme forms part of Operation Harlequin, the force-wide campaign to tackle alcohol-related violent crime and anti-social behaviour during summer.

Supt Les Milner said: "We aim to get personal with the minority of people who persist in getting involved in anti-social behaviour and committing violent crime.

"Officers are intent on ridding Loughborough town centre of such people and the buses will serve to reinforce my message to them - behave or face the consequences."
