Taxis fail safety licence tests
Seven taxi drivers in Leicestershire have failed a safety inspection, with another vehicle taken off the road.

Oadby and Wigston Borough Council carried out a spot check of both hackney carriages and private hire.

The operation, which also involved police and government officials, saw 14 vehicles stopped and inspected.

Seven drivers did not comply with various licence safety conditions and mechanical faults led to the immediate suspension of one licence.

A further three were given a number of days to rectify a minor fault.
