Teens face ban from city streets
Teenagers spotted in part of Leicester during the evening now face being escorted home by police.

New dispersal powers mean that anyone in the Belgrave area under the age of 16 and not accompanied by an adult after 9pm can be ordered to leave.

The move is designed to curb anti-social behaviour and is centred on the St Gabriel's Youth Club on Kerrysdale Avenue.

People can also be banned from returning for 24 hours.

Threatening behaviour

Anyone who refuses to co-operate or breaches a ban will face arrest.

Sergeant Shane Luck, from Belgrave Local Policing Unit, said: "We know that most young people are responsible and law-abiding.

"But there are a group of youths intent in causing trouble while hanging around the youth club and the nearby streets.

"We are determined to stop them intimidating and threatening local people and these dispersal powers will help us to do that."
