Trees to attract migrating birds
A group of trees is being planted in a Leicestershire park to celebrate the arrival of waxwings.

The birds, which are the same size as starlings, have distinctive crests and red markings on their wings resembling sealing wax.

They move south over the winter, arriving from Russia and Scandinavia.

A cluster of 20 mountain ash trees, to be called Waxwing Wood, are being planted in part of Watermead Park in an attempt to attract the species.

The trees produce berries which waxwings and other birds eat.
