Winter shelter's volunteer appeal
Organisers of the Charnwood Christmas Shelter are appealing for more volunteers to run this years project.

Last year more than 30,000 was raised and 56 people in Loughborough were helped over the Christmas period.

The shelter has already received donations from schools, churches and organisations in the borough but it still needs about 30 more volunteers.

A volunteers' evening is being held on Tuesday night at 6.30pm at Emmanuel Church for anyone interested.

Important issue

Simon Watkiss from the shelter said: "For us Christmas began in June in getting this organised.

"What we need are people to express an interest, to say they can help, even if they are not sure of exact dates."

The shelter will open its doors on 21 December for two weeks.
