Flood hit town centre given hope
flooded street
The high street in Market Harborough was flooded three times
Work is getting underway to prevent flooding in Market Harborough.

Anglian Water is investing nearly 2m in a flood alleviation scheme for the Leicestershire town.

It follows a spate of flooding, which saw shops in the High Street under water three times in as many weeks during the summer.

In response, the water firm is constructing a massive underground tank capable of storing more than two million litres of water.

While the work is carried out about 100 spaces in the Commons car park in the town will be out of use.

Motorists are also warned that from time to time there will be some road closures around the town while the work scheme is completed.
