Pupils at four Leicestershire schools are being taught in new classrooms built as part of �3m programme. Temporary classrooms were removed from the sites over the summer holidays.
Leics County Council carried out work at Millfield, Ravenhurst and Kingsway schools in Braunstone, and Leicester Forest East's Stafford Leys Primary.
Ivan Ould, cabinet member for education, said he was pleased work was completed for the new term and pupils were being taught in buildings.
He said: "We are determined that schools should be provided with the very best accommodation that can be found within the available budgets.
"I know that they will be thrilled to be working in such splendid classrooms."
Replacing temporary classrooms
The biggest bill was for Millfield Community School, where �971,000 of work saw six class bases, an ICT suite, library and studio built.
The other projects were:
Five class bases and a music room at Ravenhurst Primary, costing �879,000 Three class bases, offices and a new playground at Kingsway Primary, costing �614,000 Six class bases, quiet rooms and a playground extension were added at Stafford Leys Community Primary, costing �808,000 The work was the latest phase to replace temporary classrooms across the county.
