Airport bosses will introduce the ban next month
Traffic and parking conditions are being revised at Nottingham East Midlands Airport to tighten security.

The airport will no longer allow vehicles to pick-up or drop-off passengers along the road in front of the terminal from 1 May.

The airport announced on Friday that all vehicles, except buses and taxis, could be required to use the car park.

However, people who use the car park for less than 15 minutes will not be required to pay.

An airport spokeswoman said the move was aimed at improving security.

She said: "It does not make sense to have vehicles we do not know so close to the terminal."

The new restriction was also aimed at reducing congestion in front of the airport, she added.

Nottingham East Midlands Airport expects this year to be its busiest ever, with passenger numbers increasing from 4.3m to a possible 5m.

Earlier this week three new destinations were added to its flight list - Florida, the Dominican Republic and Cancun, in Mexico.
