A Gothic-style church which had deteriorated so badly it needed emergency repairs, is being restored. The Grade II listed St Mark's church on Belgrave Gate in Leicester has been empty for the past 22 years.
The church dates from 1872, but has not been used since 1982. The council was forced to spend 10,000 on emergency repairs to the fabric.
Plans to turn it into a restaurant were halted after a disagreement between the developers and English Heritage.
