Dandy will stay at Blackpool Zoo |
Six young reindeer males are heading north from their home on the Lancashire coast for a new life in the Scottish Highlands. Blackpool Zoo's oldest male reindeer, a 10-year-old called Dandy, fathered the six. They are going to the Highland Wildlife Park in Kincraig.
A spokeswoman for Blackpool Zoo said it now had a total of 16 reindeer and had to move some on.
"It is always quite sad to see our babies leaving Blackpool," she said.
"They are destined for a superb facility in Scotland, and we cannot keep all the boys or Dandy would be most upset."
Dandy fathered an all-female herd in 2005, which is an unusual feat for the species.
