Reindeer are not usually found on Eastbourne seafront |
A herd of reindeer were the star guests at a Christmas parade held in Eastbourne on Sunday. The animals were brought to Sussex from their home in Scotland, where they are believed to be the only free-range herd of reindeer in the UK.
They brought Santa Claus in his sleigh along Eastbourne seafront and into the town centre.
The Eastbourne Christmas Magic event also featured carols from a school choir and a pantomime performance.
The herd of reindeer came to the UK from Scandinavia and develop a thick, light coloured coat each winter along with a new set of antlers once a year.
The parade started on the seafront at 1pm and the reindeer then went on to the Arndale Centre shopping precinct where children were given the chance to meet Santa Claus.
