Village mill set for Restoration
Higherford Mill, Barrowford
Higherford Mill closed in 1971
An historic mill dating back to 1824 is to feature in the new series of the BBC programme Restoration.

Higherford Mill in Lancashire was an early water-powered mill and was converted to steam and then electricity before closing in 1971.

The stone building, in Barrowford, is currently home to several businesses.

Campaigners for the Heritage Trust for the North West want to put a water wheel back in to turn it into a centre for creative enterprises.

They hope the plans can be realised with the help of Restoration. The series, which will showcase 21 buildings, will begin on 28 July.

Manchester's Victoria Bath's won a previous series of Restoration. Work on the building, on Hathersage Road, Manchester, is due to start this October.
