Blackpool Airport's terminal, which has undergone a 2m refurbishment, is being officially opened on Thursday.

A new internal design and layout now gives the airport the capacity to handle 2,000,000 passengers a year.

Fourteen more check-in desks and extra baggage reclaim facilities have been included in the new layout.

"Blackpool's new facilities have been designed to offer passengers maximum convenience," Paul Whelan, of airport operator City Hopper Airports, said.

Bill Beaumont OBE, ex England rugby captain, will officially reopen the terminal.

This year around 750,000 people are expected to pass through the terminal.
