Plans for casino resort revealed
Blackpool's Golden Mile
The casinos plans aim to modernise Blackpool
Council officials are sifting through developers' plans for casinos in Blackpool after the deadline was reached for applications.

American casino operators have held talks with Blackpool Council but it is not yet known if any want to invest.

Applications to build a Las Vegas-style casino on the Golden Mile had to be submitted by Monday night.

The plans depend on Blackpool being given one of eight "super casino" licences by the government.

Leisure Parcs and the Hilton Group have already declared interest in building a hotel casino on Blackpool's Golden Mile.

Blackpool Council also wanted to assess the level of interest from other operators - casting its net worldwide.

Details of the written submissions are expected to be revealed later this week.
