Art deco hotel fittings sold off
Midland Hotel, Morecambe
The Grade II listed building is a landmark in the seaside town
Fixtures and fittings from a seaside art deco hotel, which is being redeveloped, are to be sold off for two charities.

Dressers, mirrors and sinks are among the items from Morecambe's Midland Hotel which will be auctioned or sold.

The proceeds will go the NCH children's charity and the campaign to restore the town's Winter Gardens theatre.

The items have been donated by developers Urban Splash who are refurbishing the landmark building.

The new building will be central to a redevelopment "masterplan" for the town.

It will become a 46-bedroom hotel with a public cafe-bar, a restaurant and a bath house. The North West Development Agency (NWDA) has predicted it will bring in an extra 1.2m a year to the local economy.
