Freddie could be workers' toast
Andrew Flintoff practices with brewery staff
Brewery staff hope to toast Flintoff's success
Cricket fans are not the only ones hoping Lancashire's Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff repeats his heroics in the third Ashes test against the Aussies.

Staff at the Thwaites brewery in Lancashire will receive a crate of ale if he hits a half century or takes five wickets in an innings.

But if he scores a duck or fails to take a wicket at Old Trafford, the workers will not get their beer bonus.

The brewery recently signed a sponsorship deal with the England star.

Life-sized cut-out

The all-rounder, nicknamed Freddie, has become the face of one of the brewer's brand of ales.

"There was a great buzz when Freddie launched the bonus scheme for us and we have set up a network of radios at the brewery so that staff can keep check on their asset," said marketing director Brian Jenkins.

"We have also produced a life-sized cut-out of Freddie for every department at the office so that even when people are working they will never be too far from the man they are pinning their hopes on."

Flintoff starred with two half-centuries and seven wickets against Australia at Edgbaston to win the man-of-the-match award and help level the series at 1-1.
