Remains are 'not' missing cockler
Police on the beach at Morecambe Bay
Investigators of the cockle picking tragedy were alerted on Wednesday
Body parts found in the River Lune near Lancaster are not those of a victim of the Morecambe Bay cockle tragedy, police have confirmed.

Detectives investigating the February cockle picking tragedy were waiting for results of a post-mortem examination of the human remains on Friday.

A force spokesman said the body was local man, Mark Stackhouse, 29, who went missing in February.

A fisherman found the body parts at about 0900 BST on Wednesday.

Police believe two cockle pickers are still missing.

A total of 23 died in Morecambe Bay in February.

The migrant workers all drowned on 5 February this year when they were caught in the dark on the mudflats by a fast-rising tide, in the Hest Bank area of the bay.
