Hotline to curb graffiti vandals

The cards have a hotline number urging people to fight vandalism
People living in east Kent are being urged to shop the vandals behind the increasing amount of graffiti blighting communities in the district of Thanet.

Thousands of special cards containing a hotline number have been produced by the council so residents can call with information on those behind the crimes.

Councillor Ingrid Spencer said it was hoped the initiative would curb the action of the "mindless minority".

The anti-social behaviour hotline can also be used to report other issues.

These include vandalism, intimidation, harassment and dumped rubbish.

Ms Spencer said any information received would be treated in complete confidence, and checked with other intelligence and evidence.

The credit card-sized cards are being given out by the Thanet Community Safety Partnership.

The hotline number is 01843 577888.
