Man's drink ban after 'red card'
A teenager has been banned from drinking establishments in the Dover area of Kent after being given a red card under a new Three Strikes Scheme.

The 17-year-old is the first person to have been arrested twice for being drunk and disorderly since the scheme began on 28 November.

He now risks further punishment if he breaks the terms of the six-month ban.

He has been told to stay away from all licensed premises in the Dover district which are participating in the scheme.

The initiative to tackle drink-related anti-social behaviour was first developed by Avon and Somerset Police in Taunton.

It is being trialled in Dover by the district council and Kent Police.

The man got a yellow card for his first strike on 3 December and was then arrested again - and given a red card - on 11 December.

A third strike could see his ban being extended indefinitely, or the authorities might also apply for an Anti-Social Behaviour Order against him.
