Kent's police chief said one crime was 'one crime too many' |
A "major blitz on crime" has been promised by Kent Police with the focus on festive crime hotspots. Officers will be targeting burglary, vehicle crime, criminal damage and anti-social behaviour, including drink-related nuisance and violence.
Seasonal drink-fuelled crime includes increased night-time nuisance, drug and drink driving, and increased violence.
The force said violence can range from pub punch-ups to attacks behind closed doors, including domestic violence.
A Kent Police spokeswoman said: "Sadly, the festive season can be a time of suffering for domestic violence victims, as alcohol also fuels rage.
'Known criminals'
"Specialist teams will be working with other agencies to identify and support victims - and to deal with the person causing the violence."
Chief Constable Mike fuller said crime in Kent was low, but added: "Every crime is one too many."
He said the force's message to criminals was "don't even think of making Christmas a misery for others".
The blitz will focus on known criminals and troublemakers using local information and intelligence, police said.
