Force to tackle alcohol disorder
West Mercia Police is turning the spotlight on alcohol related disorder to make the streets safer in the run up to Christmas.

The force is launching Operation Christmas Presence aimed at tackling alcohol-related crime in Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

It will be the second year the seasonal initiative will operate.

A force spokesman said it will be focusing on the small minority responsible for drink-driving.

He added alcohol-fuelled violence and drink spiking will also be targeted.

Festive revellers were praised last year for keeping the Christmas and New Year period relatively trouble free.
