Four webcams at the nursery give parents peace of mind |
A nursery in Kent has become the first in the county to install webcams, enabling parents to watch their children at play via the internet. Cuddlez Nursery, in Northfleet, has four webcams in various rooms which can only be accessed by parents who have a series of passwords and a pin number.
They can only view the site if their children are at nursery that day.
Owner Karen Kirby said members of staff were never left alone with children where there were no cameras.
The nursery, which only opened in June, says it has been inundated with calls from parents seeking a place for their children after a BBC documentary broadcast an undercover report into nursery abuse.
Benn Smith, whose daughter Maya attends Cuddlez Nursery, is able to log onto its website from his office and said the cameras gave him peace of mind.
"I can log on anytime, just to see what she's doing.
"With having the webcams they have to be the best all the time, because they are being watched all the time," he said.
The nursery says it is now planning to expand following the interest shown by parents.
