'Abuse' nursery to get new bosses
Toddler
The nursery said it had been "unaware" of any "misconduct"
A Stoke-on-Trent nursery which was criticised in a BBC documentary is being taken over by new owners.

At Little Treasures, on Festival Way, the BBC found that some carers shouted and one staff member called children "minger" and "imbecile".

Following the documentary four members of staff were sacked and the current owners said they would never have allowed such behaviour had they known.

The manager said allowing new bosses to step in had been a difficult decision.

'Regrettably unaware'

The documentary, shown last Thursday, also showed that hygiene regulations such as wearing gloves and washing hands at the end of a nappy-changing run were not always observed - even when there was a stomach bug going around the nursery.

The nursery said in a statement that it had been "regrettably unaware of incidents of misconduct".

The current managers have written to parents to apologise and say they hope the take-over will help to secure the nursery's future.

Staffordshire Police said it would be looking into issues raised by the investigation.

Ofsted, the body responsible for guaranteeing nursery standards, has launched investigations into all the nurseries that were secretly filmed.
