Hull Kingston Rovers rugby league club has confirmed stand-off Paul Cooke has been disciplined after being convicted for drink-driving.

The former Hull FC player was fined 300 and banned from driving for 16 months after pleading guilty at Hull Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Cooke was stopped and breathalysed while driving through East Hull in May.

The club said the player "unreservedly apologised" for letting down his family, the club and its supporters.

The club said in a statement: "Paul has been internally disciplined by the club following his conviction for drink driving.

"As far as the club are concerned the matter is closed and we will be making no further comment."

Cooke has been included in the squad for Friday's game against St Helens.
