Offenders clean up cemetery
Graves
Some graves have been vandalised many times
Young people ordered to do community work by the courts are to clean up after vandalism in Cleethorpes Cemetery.

A number of graves were damaged in the attack last December.

Leah Hamilton, who is charge of the scheme, said: "The young people who will be undertaking the work in the cemetery may not have been responsible for the damage.

"However, their involvement will enable them to make amends for any harm their behaviour may have caused.

"We hope that by being involved in this type of activity, young people will be given the opportunity to learn new skills."

Allison Fisher, cemeteries and crematorium registrar for Cleethorpes said: "The work will benefit cemetery users and the local community."

One grave at Cleethorpes Cemetery is reported to have been vandalised 33 times in recent months.

The young offenders are due to start their work at the cemetery on 27 May.
