Cricket ground under water again
Flooding at New Road
It was not as desperate as having a summer flood, the club said
Worcestershire County Cricket Club's ground, which was severely affected by flooding last summer, is under water again after recent bad weather.

Water has gone across the reseeded outfield and square at New Road and staff had to move stock from the club shop and reception areas on Saturday.

Last summer some parts of the ground were under 12ft (3.66m) of water.

Flood barriers have remained in Worcester and Upton-upon-Severn but river levels peaked on Sunday.

'Not as desperate'

A flood warning remained in place on Sunday between Worcester and Tewkesbury.

The cricket club announced in early August that no more cricket would be played at New Road until the new season.

The chief executive, Mark Newton, said: "If the flood stays around for say longer than a week, then you start to get very worried.

"At this stage I wouldn't be worried.

"But we were already of course in a situation where we weren't quite sure how the square was going to play next season anyway.

"This certainly won't help it, but it's not as desperate as a summer flood."
