Railway platform to be extended
Julie Kirkbride
Julie Kirkbride described the news as "very exciting"
Network Rail has said it will extend a platform at Bromsgrove Station in Worcestershire following a campaign by commuters in the town.

Only trains with two carriages can currently stop at the station which often sees overcrowding in rush hours.

Now Network Rail has said it will extend the platform next year, allowing longer trains to Birmingham to stop.

Bromsgrove MP Julie Kirkbride said: "We have been waiting a long time and this is very exciting."

She and fellow Conservative MP Peter Luff, who represents Mid Worcestershire, have campaigned together for the longer platform.

He said: "Julie and I will continue to press the government and Network Rail to start the works at the earliest possible date.

"The prospect of more four car trains serving commuter from Worcestershire to Birmingham is a piece of really good news."
