Herefordshire Council is to receive 300,000 to refurbish a travellers' site in the county. The announcement is part of a package of government measures to tackle difficulties caused by unauthorised traveller developments.
Shropshire County Council will also receive more than 63,000 to refurbish the Craven Arms site.
A total of eight sites throughout England are to receive a share of 2.5m of government funding.
The latest initiatives are part of a new draft planning circular - Planning for Gypsy and Traveller Sites - which will increase the number of authorised sites, whilst also improving the standard of facilities on existing sites.
