It follows an incident in Sussex in which a number of arrests were made when a caravan with effigies of travellers was burnt.

Herefordshire traveller Jane Marshall said the Sussex case had affected a large number of Gypsies in the county.

"It was very, very upsetting. As a gypsy culture we thought how dare they do something like that?" she said.

"It wasn't fair for them to go along and burn a caravan, things like that are upsetting to the culture."

The group, Stop Racism on our Culture, said their aim was to counter some of the negative stereotypes surrounding the Gypsey and traveller communities.

The Sussex incident occured in Firle when several people were arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred.
