Old cider press will be restored
A disused cider press in Herefordshire could once again be producing scrumpy thanks to a grant.

The stone and wood press at Court Crescent in Hinton, is to be restored using part of a 25,000 grant from the Countryside Agency.

Local workshop, Southgate Woodpeckers, who are specialists in green oak carpentry, will re-make the wooden fittings and lift and reset the stones.

Restoration work is due to be completed in the autumn.

Herefordshire has a long history of cider making.

It was a popular and often safer alternative to water in the 1900s.
