Migrant's village plans examined
Brierley caravan site, near Leominster, Herefordshire
The site will have its own shops and leisure facilities
An application to build a caravan site in Herefordshire for 1,000 strawberry pickers is due to go before planners this week.

Fruit company S&A Produce, which is behind the scheme, says it wants to build facilities including a cinema, library, a shop and medical centre.

Work has already started on the site at Brierley, and this has upset some residents in nearby Leominster.

Herefordshire Council is due to consider the application on Wednesday.

This year's strawberry crop is expected to be ready for picking next month and S&A Produce Ltd says it had to press ahead with building work to be ready on time.

Herefordshire Council says it is aware work is being carried out on the site without planning permission, but it is awaiting the outcome of a planning committee meeting before serving an enforcement notice.
