Plan to stop sewers overflowing
A 3.5m scheme has been drawn up to stop sewers flooding homes in Malvern.

Work to widen the sewers will begin this summer at a number of sites in the Worcestershire town.

Severn Trent has had to install temporary valves to stop the sewers from overflowing following heavy downpours.

Plans for the new scheme, which aims to provide a long-term solution, are on show at St Mary's Church Hall in Malvern until 2000 BST on Wednesday.

Flooding 'unacceptable'

Project manager Rob Goodwin said the work would cause some traffic disruption.

"Sewer flooding is unacceptable and I'm sure the long-term benefits of the scheme will far outweigh any short-term disruption that may be caused."

The work will be carried out in Madresfield Road, Dukes Meadow playing fields, Arosa Drive, Bellars Lane, Windrush Crescent, Upper Howsell Road and Charlock Road.

The plans will also be on show at the Sherrards Green Road church from 1400 BST on Thursday.
