Fans will not be allowed to stand at Fratton Park |
Football fans in Portsmouth are to be asked to sign good behaviour contracts or face having their season tickets taken away. Portsmouth Football Club have joined forces with police to stamp out trouble when they start next season in the Premiership.
Hampshire Constabulary will be using Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs) against anyone acting in an "anti-social" way during matches at Fratton Park.
Both the police and the club have vowed to keep a close eye on standing at the stadium, which will be banned from the start of the new season.
If fans refuse to sit down they will be asked to sign up to an ABC.
Safe for families
If they refuse or later break the contract, they could have their season ticket taken from them.
Football intelligence officer PC Gary Morgan said: "We want to make sure that Fratton Park is a place where families and people of all ages can go and enjoy a good game of football.
"Using ABCs is just one of the ways that we are working together with the club to ensure that this happens."
Mick Coleman, safety officer of Portsmouth Football Club, said: "The ABC programme further cements the close working relationship the club now enjoys with Hampshire Constabulary.
"It is seen as an extension to the HOOF (Hooligans Out Of Football) initiative which proved very successful last season.
"We hope our decent and loyal supporters are reassured to see that we are further striving to make Fratton Park a safe place to enjoy football."
