Taylor misses big kick-off
Portsmouth defender Matthew Taylor
Matthew Taylor is suffering from a heel injury
Portsmouth defender Matthew Taylor has been ruled out for at least the first month of the new Premiership season.

The England Under-21 full-back misses Portsmouth's return to the top flight because of a heel problem.

A wound in his heel may take another month to close, but the left-back is hopeful of a speedy return to fitness.

"We're hoping it can be closed so that would leave me with a scar and another three to four weeks before I could do anything," he told BBC Radio Solent.

"But that's football, I've got to be positive and hope I can play a part in keeping Pompey in the Premiership."
