The Chief Special Constable for Hampshire Constabulary has been made an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

By day, the father of three boys is a car parts manager who joined the Special Constabulary in 1989 and has worked in Southampton ever since.

Mr Giany said: "The award is amazing recognition for the work I and others provide as special constables."

Mr Giany has been based at Southampton's Central police station for the past seven years, having previously been based in the Shirley area of the city.

"I am greatly honoured by the award and the recognition," he added.

Chief Constable of the force, Paul Kernaghan, said: "Hampshire Special Constabulary plays an invaluable role in securing community safety.

"Satbir Giany is rightly being honoured for his service over many years, as a member of that dedicated band of men and women.

"In his current role, he is in many ways the public face of the Special Constabulary locally, and his honour reflects well on the entire force.

"I am delighted for him and grateful for his outstanding voluntary contribution to community safety in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight."
