Clara Furse will become a Dame |
The chief executive of the London Stock Exchange and the boss of transport firm FirstGroup have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours. Canadian-born businesswoman Clara Furse, who has led the exchange since 2001, is made a Dame. And Moir Lockhead, who began his career as a trainee mechanic and is now chief executive of Britain's biggest bus and train company, has been knighted. Both said the honours were a tribute to their staff. "It is a great honour for me and my family," Muir Lockhead said. "Most of all this honour is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of everyone at FirstGroup," he said. Ms Furse said: "I believe this honour recognises the vital role that the London Stock Exchange plays within the City of London. "I would therefore like to use this opportunity to thank everyone at the Exchange. I feel privileged to lead such a committed and successful team."
