Thousands enjoy Bestival festival
Rob Da Bank
DJ Rob Da Bank is the founder of the Isle of Wight event
Up to 25,000 music fans have descended on the Isle of Wight this weekend for the second Bestival music event.

The festival boasts hundreds of bands including The Magic Numbers, Royksopp, Super Furry Animals and Soulwax.

The Bestival was founded by DJ Rob da Bank, who took over the late John Peel's show on BBC Radio 1.

On Saturday night, its organisers will try to set the world record for the biggest fancy dress party, with a theme of cowboys and indians.

'Alternative Glastonbury'

The event will also bring an inflatable church, a sauna and alternative shows and stalls to the Robin Hill Country Park.

Spokeswoman Clare Woodcock said: "The Bestival is like all the best bits of all the other festivals rolled into one - it's quite unique.

"There will be lots of quirky things going on but one of the main catchwords is attention to detail, everything looks absolutely beautiful.

"It has been described as all the alternative bits of Glastonbury but without the mud - fingers crossed."
