The Spikeys make it difficult for anyone to slip a drug into a drink |
More than 20,000 'Spikey' devices are being handed out to drinkers in an attempt to stamp out drug-related rape. The Spikey fits in the top of most beer and alcopop bottles, and has a hole just big enough for a straw.
The devices will be given to customers at pubs and clubs in Fareham, Gosport and the Solent East area on Wednesday.
They were designed by a Surrey businessman after his 21-year-old daughter had her drink spiked on a night out.

Pc Paul Worrall said: "The spiking of another person's drink is both dangerous and irresponsible. "Through this campaign we, as part of a partnership, are trying to highlight the dangers of accepting a drink from another person, whether they're a stranger or not.
"Statistically it is unlikely to happen to you, but you should be aware of the risks involved.
