England and Gloucester rugby player Lesley Vainikolo has been released without charge after answering police bail over a street brawl.

The 29-year-old was arrested after an incident in Bath on Saturday.

Mr Vainikolo was held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, then released on bail until Thursday.

The Tongan-born star's bail has been extended until mid-November. A man in his 20s was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

A Gloucester Rugby Club spokesman said the winger would be available for selection for the team's EDF Energy Cup match against Newcastle on Sunday.

The 6ft 2in, 17.5st star has won five England caps to date, after becoming eligible through his residency here.
