County's flood defences 'holding'
Three flood warnings remain in place on the River Severn and Gloucestershire residents are being asked to remain vigilant to the risk of flooding.

However, the threat of flooding appears to be receding as less rain fell over the weekend than had been predicted, the Environment Agency said.

A spokeswoman said: "We had heavy rain in the Welsh mountains which is affecting the Severn's upper reaches.

"The defences are holding and river levels are steady."

She added: "But we're expecting rain on Monday night and we still want everybody to remain vigilant."

The flood warnings on the Severn are around the Gloucester and Tewkesbury areas.

Surface water on roads was causing some disruption in the county on Monday, with several A and B-roads closed.
