Police said systems on display invited opportunist thieves |
Drivers who own satellite-navigation systems are being warned to remove them when not in use after a spate of thefts in Gloucestershire. Six were taken from cars and vans parked in Cheltenham and Gloucester last week.
Owners are urged to remove both the unit and the cradle from view when they leave their vehicles.
Crime reduction officer Paul Francis said leaving them on display made them inviting for opportunist thieves.
"A lot of people will have been bought these systems for Christmas and they can cost a lot of money.
"So anyone who owns one really needs to make sure that they follow steps to prevent them from being stolen."
