Smokers in Gloucester are being urged to use special pocket ashtrays as part of a council campaign to clean up the city's streets. The pouches, which cost 2, take up to five cigarette butts, while also absorbing the smell of stale smoke.

Councillor Paul James said: "What it is all about is getting people to take a pride in their city."
