New homes secure bypass funding
Work on the bypass
The bypass will link Gloucester to the M5
Plans for 2,650 new homes on the outskirts of Gloucester have been approved.

The homes, plus two schools, are part of a 300m development on the former RAF Quedgeley site.

The green light means the housebuilders - Quedgeley Urban Village - will now contribute the 6m needed for the final section of Gloucester's south-west bypass.

Work is due to begin on the houses in the summer.

Councillor Mary Smith, Labour leader of Gloucester City Council, told the BBC: "We are desperately short of houses, but we also need to regenerate the city centre and the docks, so this project works towards both."

RAF Quedgeley was previously used by the MoD for storage.
