Plans for a new casino in Cheltenham have angered local residents who fear it will encourage late-night drinking in the town. Salmon Harvester Properties has been given permission to build a casino on the site of the old Whitbread brewery, owned by Interbew.
The company had originally wanted to put up a nightclub, but had to scale down these plans.
Local resident Matthew Gemmell says he is disappointed with the decision.

"If you lived here and were subjected to people around at 5 or 6 o'clock in the morning - which is what potentially could happen - you would be worried.
"It is not old fashioned, but caring about people's behaviour and interests," he said.
The firm says government ministers must now approve the casino plans, and this could take time.

Doug Steward, the company's managing director, said the casino was only part of the plans for the site, which also include multi-screen cinemas, a bowling alley, cafes and shops.
Plans for the development were first submitted in April, and included a promise to crack down on late night revelry.
Cheltenham Borough Council approved the application on Thursday and says campaigners' fears should have been allayed.
Their head of planning, Rob Garnham, told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "We got rid of the nightclub, making sure there were no superbars, and put in CCTV, to control what happens when people leave the area late at night."
