Ayton took gold in Beijing in the Yngling |
Gold medal sailor Sarah Ayton and her Team GB partner Nick Dempsey have married, after postponing the ceremony for the Beijing games. The Olympic pair married at Holy Trinity Church, near Weymouth, Dorset, on Wednesday. Ayton took gold for GB alongside Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson, who were both at the ceremony, in the Yngling. While Dempsey finished just outside the medals in the men's RS:X windsurfing class in Beijing. The couple were due to get married before the games, but decided to concentrate on their events first. Magazine shoot Ayton took the Dempsey surname despite a light-hearted suggestion whoever won gold in Beijing would keep their name. The pair were driven away soon after the service for a magazine photo shoot. They will continue to live at Wyke Regis, Dorset, where they have a home overlooking Portland Harbour. The next big goal for the duo is the 2012 London games where the sailing events will be held in Weymouth and Portland.
