Tessa Jowell will discuss the South West's plans for the Olympics |
Tessa Jowell visited Weymouth and Portland to discuss the South West's plans for hosting the Olympic and Paralympic sailing events in 2012. The Secretary for Culture, Media and Sport inspected the site of Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy on Monday.
A multi-million pound upgrade is under way to turn it into a first-class training and competition venue.
Her visit came after the International Olympic Committee gave the preparations for London's Olympics a glowing report.
Ms Jowell travelled by boat to the academy from the Weymouth sea front, where she viewed progress on the regeneration of the esplanade upgrade and the pavilion peninsula redevelopment.
