Plans for a revamp of Weymouth Pavilion and ferry terminal site in time for the 2012 Olympic Games have been announced. The draft proposals include a number of suggested uses for the site on the seafront in the Dorset town.
A refurbished theatre, a four-star hotel, a new ferry terminal building, a World Heritage visitor centre and a 400-space car park are among the plans.
Weymouth and Portland is set to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games sailing events in six years time.
Councillor Doug Hollings, environmental brief holder for Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, said: "This is an early stage of the planning process that identifies the mix of uses for the site, before a detailed application is prepared next year."

The borough council said the planned revamp forms part of the wider regeneration of Weymouth and Portland, both as a seaside resort and an Olympic venue.
A four-week public consultation and exhibition will be held at Weymouth Arts Centre on Commercial Road from the end of the month.
"We want people to come and view the draft master plan, talk to the project team and give us their views," Mr Hollings added.
