World sailors head for Weymouth
Weymouth
The Red Arrows will fly past Weymouth on 17 July
Preparations are underway in Weymouth for what organisers say is the biggest ever youth sailing world championships.

More than 450 Dorset schoolchildren will be taking part in the opening event on 13 July, when sailors from 64 countries will arrive in the town.

The Red Arrows are due to fly past on 17 July and HRH Princess Anne will also visit competitors during the 10-day Volvo-sponsored event.

Many of the youth sailors are expected to return to race in the 2012 Olympics.

A spokesman for the Royal Yachting Association said: "This is a huge event for Weymouth.

"The council and the local community have really got behind this, and it promises to be a superb event."
